Slight alterations have been made to the original route. Partly the urge to visit more exotic and strange places and also partly due to the inability to find reliable shiping companies. Our route now, (as seen on the map to the left) we plan to drive down through France and Spain then North Africa. We intend to explore Arabic Africa for many months and go to many far-fetched places including sailing down the river Niger to Timbuktu.
When our Arab Africa tour is complete we are going to drive about for a bit around Western Africa. Ghana, Togo, Benin, just to name a few of the West African countries.
When Western Africa can not hold us any longer, we are going to drive over to East Africa, Dangerous Africa. We shall go to Sudan (where armed guards is a must), Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania. We will meet up with the Masai tribes of Kenya, camp in the Tanzanian bush lands of the Serengeti plains and drive across the Ngorongoro crater as well as trekking Kilimanjaro.
When Eastern Africa is ticked off we shall explore deepest darkest Africa, the Congo. We shall drive into the heart of the African continent in the Congo jungles and swamps. However the beauocracy for these countries, unfortunately, is an absolute nightmare!
Lastly, of the African continent we shall camp bush style in Namibia, Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland and Lesotho. We will also cautiously explore rural Angola, we shall be extra cautious due to the extensive minefields.
From Durban, the popular seaside town in South Africa we shall ship to Singapore. We shall explore the Malay peninsular for about a month then ship* to Darwin, Australia. We shall explore Australia for 6 months! Sounds a lot but we wish we could have more time. In our "Australian Adventure" we will visit the famous town of Alice Springs, Uluru (Ayres Rock), Tasmania-the home island to Loony Tunes".
After Australia we shall ship back up to Singapore, explore the Malay peninsular in more detail the go on to explore South East Asia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. We shall see many amazing animals and see many wonderful temples and shrines and so much more. After South East Asia then drive up and explore China for 3 months. The story from there is undecided...
*Where the asterix in the text is (about shipping from Singapore, Singapore to Darwin, Australia) we might alter the route depending on timetables of shipping/weather/visa approvals. We might from Singapore cross over to Sumatra, Indonesia, then on to Java and sail the indoneian islands until Papua New guinea then sail on to Northern Australia (Cape York) then alter our Australian section route accordingly.
